I'm back.  Still losing.... slowly, but surely.

so much has happened in the last 6 weeks.

Gus and I went to Kansas to visit the fam the last weekend of September.  I went for my niece's baptism - her parents asked me to be her godmother, which is very cool.  Here's a pic of me and my dad at the baptism.

And here's one of my sisters and brother-in-law.  My sisters both got some fun palazzo pants to wear to the event - I'm tempted to get some for me! 

 

 

That Sunday afternoon, we helped our dad put up the walls for a new shed he is building to make beef jerky.  It'll be nice for him to have a new (cleaner) space for him to work on his hobby!

 

 

I spent the second week of October in Galveston for a work meeting and preparedness symposium.  Our hotel was right on the Galveston Seawall, which was awesome!  And it was within walking distance of the convention center and Kroger.  The conference was really interesting and I got to catch up with some colleagues from around the state.  I also took advantage of the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States, the Seawall sidewalk, which is supposed to be something like 10 miles long.  I walked and jogged most of the mornings I was there, even doing a 5K one morning!  I'm so glad it's finally cool enough to get outside to walk and jog - it's so much better than the dreadmill!  Prerun selfie at sunrise!  It was a little breezy off the Gulf that morning --- and definitely humid.  I even forgot my iPod one day and just listened to the waves while I wogged.

 

 

 

Last weekend, Gus and I went to Fort Worth for the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering at the Fort Worth Stockyards.  We met up with my dad and my uncle.  My dad even got to ride in the chuckwagon train into the Stockyards.  We had a fun time hanging out.  I bought a couple fun things at the tradeshow - some more Scentsy stuff and another ear warmer.

And last but not least, I got a new desk at work!  I am actually able to sit up straight to type.  So much better for my back!

 



 





My sister's bridal shower

Last weekend, my sister and I drove to Kansas for our other sister's bridal shower.  As the maids of honor, we were the hostesses.  Let's just say it's not easy to plan a bridal shower from 2 states away.  But with lots of help from the bride and the other bridesmaids and some friends, it turned out really fun.  I think people enjoyed themselves and my sister got some fun gifts!

Our cousin made the cake!  She did an awesome job!  She is so creative and her media is cake! 

The whole cake was edible, even the boots on the top.  It was covered in purple marshmallow fondant, which tasted way better than regular fondant.  Each layer had a different flavor.  Plus, she made strawberry and chocolate cake balls.  We had other yummy snacks too.  Thank goodness I was pretty busy and didn't get a chance to snack too much!

The main activity was our "photo booth" and I was a little worried people would not participate but everybody seemed to enjoy it!  Here are a few examples of fun pics:
