We are doing a "Get Fit Texas" challenge at work. It requires that we log at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week for at least 6 of the 10 weeks of the challenge. Not that hard, right? right, except I missed out on the first couple weeks because I was lazy. And I really want the reward at the end --- 4 hours of leave.
So since the beginning of February, Gus and I have been walking, walking, walking. I'm glad that I have a faithful walking companion. He never looks at me like I'm crazy when I say "let's go for a walk." He is always ready to head out the door, no matter how short or long the walk.
On Sunday, we walked 4.33 miles! Unfortunately, the park service has the doggie water fountain turned off for winter so Gus was pretty thirsty by the time we got home. He was exhausted.... but he was excited to go for another walk yesterday!
We got rained on during our walk yesterday. Of course, being a lab, he definitely didn't mind that at all! He splashed in the puddles and shook off the excess water with joy!
Pretty boring update, but it is nice to be exercising again, even if it's just walking/jogging for now!

That 5K Resolution
In 2012, I made the resolution to complete at least six 5Ks. And I did it!
In 2013, I'm repeating that resolution with the goal of jogging/running at least one of them!
I may have to increase my number because I have already completed 2!
The first was the Resolution Run in Round Rock (same one I did last year!) on New Year's Day! My roommate had never done a 5K so she wanted to do one too. She has been working really hard to build endurance to complete the 3 miles. And she did it!
The second 5K for 2013 was the Cupid's Chase 5K in Georgetown. My roommate wasn't able to do this 5K with me and Gus so another of my friends from work joined us! We walked but we kept a good pace.
The next one is not scheduled yet.
Can you believe that big brown puppy dog who walks/jogs with me is going to be 7 years old on Thursday?!?
